Effective Change Date: July 20th, 2026
What's changing
The kubernetes-event-exporter image, including its -fips and -iamguarded variants are deprecated. All three images will be removed from the Chainguard image catalog on July 20, 2026.
Why we're making this change
The kubernetes-event-exporter project is no longer maintained upstream. Chainguard evaluated replacing the original upstream with several forks, but none of them are actively maintained either.
Am I affected? How do I tell?
You are affected if you pull or deploy any of the following from the Chainguard catalog:
kubernetes-event-exporterkubernetes-event-exporter-fipskubernetes-event-exporter-iamguardedkubernetes-event-exporter-iamguarded-fips
Do you need to do anything?
Yes. If you use any of these images, migrate to a maintained solution before the change date.
Recommended replacement options include OTEL or Grafana Alloy.
What happens if I do nothing?
The image and its tags will no longer be built after the change date. Images will stop receiving security and CVE updates.
Where can I get help or more detail?
Reach out to your Chainguard account team or Chainguard support.
